L'area della finestra è una raccolta di pixel all'interno della finestra in cui il sistema operativo consente il disegno. Il sistema operativo non visualizza alcuna parte di una finestra che si trova all'esterno dell'area della finestra. Le coordinate dell'area di un controllo sono relative all'angolo superiore sinistro del controllo, non all'area client del controllo.

La raccolta di pixel contenuti con l'area può essere non contigua.
