Administrative Tasks

Administrative Tasks

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

Administrative users can create data stores and change the data store that the application uses. Additionally, administrative users can perform all of the tasks that non-administrative users can perform. For more information about non-administrative tasks, see User Tasks in the Application.

The account used to create or change the store should not be an account with administrative privileges. Instead, perform store management by using an account that was created with full control over the data store, but not with administrator privileges.

Working with Data Stores

In order for users to use the Issue Tracking application, an administrator must have previously defined a data store. Usually, this is done while installing and configuring the application. Users cannot see which data store is being used, nor can they change the data store.

The application can only use one data store at a time. However, there can be several data stores. For example, when a new project starts and the administrator wants to create a new data store for this project, he or she may save the old data store for archival purposes. When the administrator specifies the new data store as the application data store, the information in the old data store is no longer available unless the administrator specifies the old data store again.

To select an existing data store, click Change Data Store on the Administration Home page. To create a new data store, click Create Data Store.

Data Store Properties

The following properties are associated with a data store. All properties are required.

  • Data store location (in the following form: http://yourserver/public/yourdatastore or http://yourserver/appTLH/yourdatastore)
  • Credentials
  • User name (user name that is associated with an account that has permissions on the computer running Microsoft® Exchange Server 2003)
  • Password
  • Domain
