RDP User Scenario Performance Test

On a Microsoft® Windows® CE–based device, the RDP User Scenario Performance Test establishes a remote desktop protocol (RDP) session with an RDP server. The test measures the length of time elapsed during the steps of the RDP session.

The following table shows the hardware requirements for the RDP User Scenario Performance Test.

Requirement Description
RDP server A Windows XP Professional-based desktop computer. This desktop computer should be a separate computer from the development workstation that runs Platform Builder and the CETK. For information about configuring the RDP server, see Running the RDP User Scenario Performance Test.

The following table shows the software requirements for the RDP User Scenario Performance Test.

Requirement Description
Startrdp.exe Executable file for the test.
Client_vc.dll Module that Remote Desktop loads on the Windows CE–based device. This module communicates with the RDP server over a virtual channel to track the time spent in each test.
Perflog.dll Module that contains functions that monitor and log performance.
WinBench 99 Benchmarking software that runs on the RDP server. WinBench 99 is a product of VeriTest and must be licensed directly to you by VeriTest under the WinBench 99 end-user license agreement (EULA).

To run the RDP User Scenario Performance Test, the Windows CE OS on your target device must include the Remote Desktop Protocol feature.

Note   When you run the RDP User Scenario Performance Test, the CETK temporarily copies files to the root directory of the target device. While the test runs, the test dynamically consumes program memory on the target device. Before running the test, verify that there is at least 0.2 megabytes (MB) of free storage memory on the target device. Also verify that there are several MB of free program memory on the target device. The exact amount of program memory required depends on the configuration of the WinBench 99 application on the RDP server. If there is not sufficient space in the root directory of the target device or there is not sufficient program memory, the test cannot run.
