How to: Copy a Query (Team System Web Access)

You can copy a query to a different project if you want to use that query in another project that you are managing with Team System Web Access. You can also copy a query from one folder in a project to another folder in the same project. For example, you may want to copy a query from the Team Queries folder to the My Queries folder, and then modify the query to customize it to your own work.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Readers group or have the View work items in this node permission set to Allow. To save a query as a team query, you must be a member of the Project Administrators group. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To change work item query visibility

  1. In Team System Web Access, click the Work Items page.

  2. Point to a query that you want to copy, click the arrow, and then click Copy As.

  3. In the Save as Query dialog box, in the Name box, you can type a new name for the query. If you are saving the copy in the same folder as the original query, you must give the copy a new name.

  4. Click My query (only visible to me) or Team query (visible to everyone). For more information about how to select the correct folder for storing a new query, see Organizing Queries in Folders (Team System Web Access).

  5. When finished, click OK.
