How to: Normalize Prompt Volume

Use prompt normalization to match the volume of one or more recorded prompts in a Speech Server application to the volume of an existing .wav file.

The sensible way to set the prompt volume for a speech project is to first normalize recorded prompt volume and then set the text-to-speech (TTS) volume to match the volume of the recorded prompts. For information about setting the TTS prompt volume, see How to: Set TTS Volume.

Match Prompt Volume to an Existing .wav File

In the following procedure a single recorded prompt is used to define the volume for one or more other prompts. The prompt that sets the standard is referred to as the reference prompt. The prompts that are being modified are referred to as the target prompts.

Note

The reference prompt must be correctly aligned. For more information about prompt alignment, see Alignment.

To normalize prompt volume
