How to Install Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 2

Before you can install Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2, you must have Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 installed on your computer. The Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2 retail package includes Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 on Discs 1 and 2, and Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2 on Disc 3.

2. Before you install Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2, back up your existing component database and repository. Backing Up the Component Database
3. You can back up the repository by using the Backup program that is provided with Windows XP Professional, or by using a third-party backup utility. The repository is quite large, so if you are backing up to removable media, it may require multiple discs. Backing Up the Repository
4. Once Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 is installed, and you have backed up your component database, you can update the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) on your database server.
