DataGrid.OnInitializingNewItem(InitializingNewItemEventArgs) Method

Definition

Raises the InitializingNewItem event.

protected:
 virtual void OnInitializingNewItem(System::Windows::Controls::InitializingNewItemEventArgs ^ e);
protected virtual void OnInitializingNewItem (System.Windows.Controls.InitializingNewItemEventArgs e);
abstract member OnInitializingNewItem : System.Windows.Controls.InitializingNewItemEventArgs -> unit
override this.OnInitializingNewItem : System.Windows.Controls.InitializingNewItemEventArgs -> unit
Protected Overridable Sub OnInitializingNewItem (e As InitializingNewItemEventArgs)

Parameters

e
InitializingNewItemEventArgs

The data for the event.

Remarks

This method enables derived classes to initialize the item with custom default values.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see Handling and Raising Events.

The OnInitializingNewItem method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors

When overriding OnInitializingNewItem(InitializingNewItemEventArgs) in a derived class, be sure to call the base class' OnInitializingNewItem(InitializingNewItemEventArgs) method so that registered delegates receive the event.
