Cameras

A full multimedia experience on a device isn't complete without a camera. Depending on the device, where a camera is placed is critical. This section covers guidelines for front-facing cameras.

Like the smartphone, tablet devices feature cameras for a full multimedia experience. Users can take pictures in the portrait or landscape positions, so a user’s grip should not block the camera. Whether the user is taking a picture in the portrait or landscape position, the camera should be in the top half of the device.

For the front-facing camera, we recommend you:

  • Center the camera on the top bezel
  • Avoid corner placement because it is difficult to optimize the camera angle for both orientations
  • Report the camera location to Windows
