List.length<'T> Function (F#)

Returns the length of the list.

Namespace/Module Path: Microsoft.FSharp.Collections.List

Assembly: FSharp.Core (in FSharp.Core.dll)

Syntax

// Signature:
List.length : 'T list -> int

// Usage:
List.length list

Parameters

list Type: 'Tlist

The input list.

Return Value

The length of the list.

Remarks

This function is named Length in compiled assemblies. If you are accessing the function from a language other than F#, or through reflection, use this name.

Example

List.length [ 1 .. 100 ] |> printfn "Length: %d"
List.length [ ] |> printfn "Length: %d"
List.length [ 1 .. 2 .. 100 ] |> printfn "Length: %d"

Output

Length: 100
Length: 0
Length: 50
