is a senior consultant and certified trainer at Kohera, Cronos Group and has been working with SQL Server 2000 since 2003. He is also Microsoft certified and currently holds an MCP, MCTS, MCITP and MCT in SQL Server and SharePoint. In his free time, he works as a webmaster for the Belgian SQL Server User Group and is a co-organizer of SQL Server Days.
Partially Contained Databases(Partial-CBD) has been introduced in SQL Server 2012 RC0. A Partial-CBD is a type of user database sandbox which is isolated from the database engine and therefore has a high portability. They contain alle the necessary settings and metadata which defines a database.In this session we will discus how to set up a Partial-CBD, it's authentication and deploy it to another SQL Server 2012 instance.

Koen Verbeeck is a Microsoft Business Intelligence consultant at Ordina, where he is an active member of the "Business Data Optimization" competence center. Koen has a comprehensive knowledge of the SQL Server BI stack, with a particular love for Integration Services. Crap in, crap out. Most IT professionals working with data have probably heard this phrase a few times too many. The process of ensuring data quality is complex, difficult but holds a very important place in the corporate world of business intelligence. However, this process is often neglected or even skipped over in many projects, leading to the popular use of the CICO phrase. With the release of SQL Server 2012, Microsoft addresses this issue by releasing a new feature, Data Quality Services. This session aims to give an introduction to this service, and how it can be used to clean up data, polish it and take it up to a whole new level of "less crappiness".

is a SQL Server MVP, with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and two Masters in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science. Jen is Joint Owner of Copper Blue Consulting, delivering data and Business Intelligence solutions to global clients. Jen's focus is on the Microsoft BI stack, with a specific passion for Data Visualisation. Jen is a veteran SQL Server Developer with over 12 years SQL experience in delivering end-to-end Business Intelligence solution. Jen blogs for SQLServerPedia as well as her own blog. Jen is also active in the SQL Server community in the UK, Europe and in the US. Power View is Microsoft's Data Visualisation tool. Where does it get it right, and where does it get it wrong? Using demos, we learn about Power View whilst assessing it based on current cognitive research around Data Visualisation principles by luminaries such as Stephen Few, Tufte and others.

SQL Server 2012 will include big data processing capabilities based on Apache Hadoop, Interest in Hadoop is driven primarily by the need to handle large volumes of loosely or inconsistently structured data such as social network feeds, Web logs, email, documents, and other text-centric information. These data types can be used for applications such as customer sentiment analysis, but they cannot be effectively managed in a relational database such as SQL Server. Microsoft will give customers several ways to exploit data from Hadoop. Available immediately will be final versions of previously announced Hadoop Connectors for SQL Server and the SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse. In these session we will see what hadoop is, what it is not and how with these connectors it will enable us to pass large volumes of data between SQL and Hadoop, so that the results of big-data processing jobs on Hadoop can be analyzed with our familiar SQL analysis tools.

is a Principal Group Program Manager in the SQL Server Data Services division, responsible for developer platform and tooling. In this role Gert manages the SQL Server Data Tools team, which builds the next version of SQL Server developer tooling which ships as part of SQL Server 2012. Gert his history with SQL Server dates all the way back to 1988. In 1996 he joined the SQL Server 7.0 engine team as a developer and since then has worked in many different roles, on many different things directly or indirectly related to SQL Server. Most prominent contributions are: SQL Query Analyzer, SQL Agent, SMO, DTS, System.Transactions, MS-DTC and XPSMTP. Database development is complicated by nature! Database engines are stateful, so data loss is always a risk; object dependencies determine the order in which changes need to be applied and the loosely coupled nature of the SQL language can result in unexpected runtime errors. These are just a small collection of examples why database development is hard. The SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) development environment helps developers getting a better handle on database development, testing, deployment and migrations. The declarative nature lets the developer focus on the final state they want, instead of writing an imperative script on how to change the state of the database directly.
22:12-23:12 Inside SQL Azure: Self Governing, Self-Healing, Massively Scalable Database Service in the Cloud Cihan Biyikoglu
is a Program Manager in SQL Azure covering the programmability surface for SQL Azure. These days, Cihan is focused on SQL Azure enabling scale-out programmability models for SQL Azure through a new concept called Federations. Prior to joining the SQL Azure team, Cihan was the program manager at Microsoft HealthVault platform and SQL Server as part of the SQLCAT team. Earlier, Cihan also worked on database technologies including Illustra and Informix Dynamic Server at Informix. Cihan Biyikoglu has a masters in Database Systems from University of Westminster in the UK and Computer Engineering degree from Yildiz Technical University in Turkey.
SQL Azure is built ground up to be a cloud database service with massive scalability, high availability and combines all this with great economics. In this talk, we will look under the hood and see how SQL Azure is able to pull this off. We will look at the internals of the service that make it possible to scale to massive number of connections that can achieve support for vast number of databases and provide practically unlimited throughput across many geographies around the world.
