Converts the value of the specified Decimal number to an equivalent double-precision floating point number.

A Decimal number.

Return Value

Type: System.Double
A double-precision floating point number equivalent to the value of value.

The following code sample illustrates the conversion of a Decimal value to a Double one, using ToDouble.

public void ConvertDoubleDecimal(decimal decimalVal)
   double doubleVal;

   // Decimal to double conversion cannot overflow.
   doubleVal = System.Convert.ToDouble(decimalVal);
   outputBlock.Text += String.Format("{0} as a double is: {1}",
         decimalVal, doubleVal) + "\n";

   // Conversion from double to decimal can overflow.
      decimalVal = System.Convert.ToDecimal(doubleVal);
      outputBlock.Text += String.Format("{0} as a decimal is: {1}",
