Indicates the possible states that the player can be in, with respect to the current application's background audio.

Member nameDescription
UnknownThe current PlayState is indeterminate. For example, a new AudioTrack has been set, but playback has not been initiated.
StoppedNo playback is occurring in this application.
PausedPlayback for this application is paused.
PlayingThis application is currently playing a track.
BufferingStartedThe current track has started buffering.
BufferingStoppedThe current track has stopped buffering.
TrackReadyThe current track is ready for playback.
TrackEndedThe last track has ended and this application is currently changing tracks.
RewindingThe current track is rewinding.
FastForwardingThe current track is fast-forwarding.
ShutdownThe application has shut down.
ErrorAn error occurred.

This does not represent background audio being played from other applications. For example, even if the PlayState is Stopped, there might still be media playing from another application.
