Enumerable.Sum Method (IEnumerable<Single>)

Computes the sum of a sequence of Single values.

Parameters

source
Type: System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<Single>

A sequence of Single values to calculate the sum of.

Return Value

Type: System.Single
The sum of the values in the sequence.

Usage Note

In Visual Basic and C#, you can call this method as an instance method on any object of type IEnumerable<Single>. When you use instance method syntax to call this method, omit the first parameter. For more information, see Extension Methods (Visual Basic) or Extension Methods (C# Programming Guide).

ArgumentNullException

source is null.

This method returns zero if source contains no elements.

In Visual Basic query expression syntax, an Aggregate Into Sum() clause translates to an invocation of Sum.

The following code example demonstrates how to use Sum(IEnumerable<Single>) to sum the values of a sequence.

            List<float> numbers = new List<float> { 43.68F, 1.25F, 583.7F, 6.5F };

            float sum = numbers.Sum();

            Console.WriteLine("The sum of the numbers is {0}.", sum);

            /*
             This code produces the following output:

             The sum of the numbers is 635.13.
            */
