Synchronization is a way of getting the latest version of all objects. You should synchronize before you check in objects. Synchronization will not affect any new objects that you have added, or any objects that you have checked out.

If you select Force, you will get the latest version of all files, regardless of whether they have changed. Only use this option if your environment is not synchronized with the latest version, and consider replacing the whole environment with a new build instead.

Note

A forced resynchronization can take several hours.

Synchronization occurs in three stages:

  • The latest files are copied from the version control system to your local repository folder.

  • Files are imported into the AOT.

  • The imported files are compiled.

If errors occur during synchronization, you can examine the events in the Synchronization log: Version control > History.
