History of <name> Dialog Box (Explorer and Plug-in)
Displays history information for the selected file, including all significant events, such as creation date, check-in dates, and current version number. For each event, the dialog box shows the user who performed the action, the date and time of the event, and the description of the event. Events are listed with the most current event at the top of the display.
Several commands are accessible from this dialog box. You can perform a command on a file by first selecting an event and then clicking a command button.
Dialog Box Access
In Visual SourceSafe Explorer or a SourceSafe plug-in in Visual Studio, access the History Options dialog box, and click OK.
- Action
Indicates the action associated with a file version.
- Check Out
Displays the Check Out dialog box (Explorer) or the Check Out for Edit dialog box (plug-in), which you can use to check out the file.
- Date
Specifies the date and time of creation of a file version.
- Details
Displays the History Details dialog box, containing details about a file event.
- Diff
Allows you to compare the selected version of a file with the current version, with any other version, or with a file in your working folder. To compare two different versions of a file, hold down the CTRL key while selecting the two versions you want, and then click the Diff button. In Visual SourceSafe Explorer, selection of this element displays the Difference Options dialog box.
- Get
Displays the Get dialog box, which you can use to retrieve a local copy of the file.
- History
Indicates the number of file versions.
- Pin/Unpin
Pins or unpins the file.
- Report
Displays the History Report dialog box, which you can use to send the file history to a file, a printer, or the Clipboard.
- Rollback
Rolls back the selected version of the file.
- User
Specifies the name of the user who created a version.
- Version
Displays the version number of the file.
- View
Displays the File dialog box, allowing you to view the file as it is stored in the database.
