SourceSafe Options Dialog Box, File Types Tab (Administrator and Explorer)

Sets options relating to the types of files that you can store in a Visual SourceSafe database.

Note

After you make settings in this tab, you must restart the application to apply your changes.

Dialog Box Access

In Visual SourceSafe Administrator or Visual SourceSafe Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Options, then File Types.

  • Add
Adds a new group to the list of file type groups.
  • Binary files
Indicates types of binary files. For example, you might enter *.obj, *.xls, *.frx in this box to specify that all object files, Microsoft Excel worksheets, and Microsoft Visual Basic .frx files should be treated as binary files.
  • Create SCC file
Indicates the types of files that Visual SourceSafe will create as part of a Microsoft Source Code Control Interface project (mssccprj.scc). This project must be supported by a SourceSafe plug-in so that it can run in the source control environment in Visual Studio.
  • Delete
Deletes the currently selected file type group.
  • File groups
Lists file groups, for example, VB for Visual Basic. These groups are displayed under List Files of Type in many Visual SourceSafe dialog boxes. You can specify groups that filter the file list efficiently and reflect various types of projects, for example, a Visual Basic project.
  • File types included in file group
Lists the file types included in the currently selected file group.
