Un archivo de regla, o archivo RULES, es un archivo XML que tiene una extensión .rules. Permite definir reglas de generación personalizadas e incorporarlas al proceso de generación de un proyecto de Visual C++. Las reglas de generación personalizadas se asocian a una o varias extensiones de archivo. Una regla de generación personalizada permite pasar archivos de entrada a una herramienta, lo que produce uno o varios archivos de salida, como parte del proceso de generación.
Utilice el Archivos de regla de generación personalizada de Visual C++ (Cuadro de diálogo) para administrar los archivos de reglas de sus proyectos.

Al incorporar reglas de generación personalizadas al proceso de generación, también se puede especificar el orden en el que se ejecutan dichas reglas de generación. Para obtener más información, vea Orden de generación de herramientas (Cuadro de diálogo).
