)

Parameters

e
Type: System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewSelectEventArgs

The event data.

Exception Condition
InvalidOperationException

There is no handler for the SelectedIndexChanging event.

The SelectedIndexChanging event is raised when an item's Select button is clicked, but before the ListView control handles the select operation. (A Select button is a button control whose CommandName property is set to "Select".) This enables you to perform a custom routine whenever this event occurs, such as canceling the selection operation.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see NIB: Raising an Event.

The OnSelectedIndexChanging method also enables derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors:

When you override OnSelectedIndexChanging in a derived class, call the base class's OnSelectedIndexChanging method so that registered delegates receive the event.
