Create user accounts and set permissions

Create user accounts for your employees who need to perform tasks on Partner Center. Only global or user management admins can add users and assign roles. In Account Settings > User management, you can add user accounts and assign or change permissions.

Add a new user

  1. In Partner Center, go to the Dashboard menu > Account settings > User management.

  2. Select Add user.

  3. Type the user’s full name and unique email address.

  4. Select the employee's role and level of access. Partner Center access and permissions are based on roles, which lets you control the specific tasks that each employee can perform. For more information about what each role can do, see Set user permissions.

  5. Select Add to create the user account. The confirmation page appears, displaying the new user's permissions and sign-in information, including a temporary password.

    Important
    When new users sign in to Partner Center for the first time, they must sign in with their temporary password. Be sure to make a note of the new user's temporary password so you can send it later. You won't be able to access this information again.

Set user permissions

Partner Center access is role-based, meaning that you can restrict the user view to show only the features and functions that a user needs to complete specific tasks. For each user, you must select two settings:

  • The agent setting determines what kind of customer and company data the user can see.

  • The admin setting determines how much access the user has to Partner Center features, functions, and data.

    Note
    The default setting should be No admin in most cases, unless the employee requires permissions to complete specific administrative tasks.
