How to get Microsoft R

On Windows, you can download and install Microsoft R Client, Microsoft R Server for Windows, or install SQL Server R Services if you have SQL Server 2016 or later.

On Linux or a Hadoop cluster, you can get the developer or enterprise edition of R Server for any supported platform.

Cloud-based alternatives are also an option. On Azure, you can sign up for HDInsight, or provision a virtual machine for R Server on specific operating systems, editions of SQL Server, or data science environments. In the Azure portal, search for "R Server" to review the list services and templates.

Students and educators can access the big data analytics capabilities of R Server through the Microsoft Imagine program.
