SpbCx Object Handles

This section describes object handle types that are specifically defined for the SPB framework extension (SpbCx).

In this section

TopicDescription

SPBREQUEST Object Handle

An SPBREQUEST object handle represents an I/O request that is issued to a target device on the bus.

SPBTARGET Object Handle

An SPBTARGET object handle identifies a logical connection from a client (peripheral driver) to an addressable port or peripheral device on the bus.

Where possible, SpbCx methods and callback functions use object handle types that are defined by the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework (KMDF). For more information about framework handle types, see Summary of Framework Objects.

In some cases, the objects that are defined by SpbCx have features and capabilities that are specific to SpbCx and that cannot be adequately represented by existing framework object classes. SPB-specific handle types must be used for these objects.
