Note  Wireless Provisioning Services (WPS) is no longer available as of Windows Vista.

WPS subfiles contain XML data that provisions wireless network connections for the following:

  • SSIDs of the WISP's wireless networks

  • WISP branding information

  • Location of the WISP's wireless hotspots

  • Help files

  • Data required to log on to a WISP network, such as register and connection data

The following list describes the WPS subfiles that can be included within the WPS Master file:

  • SSID

  • Branding

  • Connection
This file contains elements from the Connection Property schemas. These elements define the EAP-based authentication methods used during the connection to the wireless network. These files are only required for wireless networks that enable 802.1X authentication.

Note   The names of the XML subfiles added to the WPS provisioning store through the IProvisioningDomain::Add method must conform to the names as listed above. For example, WPS expects that the SSID XML data resides in a file named SSID.xml.
