Excluding DDI Functions for Deferred Contexts

This section applies only to Windows 7 and later, and Windows Server 2008 R2 and later versions of Windows operating system.

When the Microsoft Direct3D runtime calls the user-mode display driver's CreateDeferredContext function to create a deferred context, the driver provides the functions that the runtime can call for that deferred context. The driver fills members of the D3D11DDI_DEVICEFUNCS structure that the p11ContextFuncs member of the D3D11DDIARG_CREATEDEFERREDCONTEXT structure points to. The driver provides only a subset of functions for a deferred context as the driver does for an immediate context.

The driver excludes many functions for deferred contexts by setting the following members of D3D11DDI_DEVICEFUNCS or D3D11_1DDI_DEVICEFUNCS to NULL:
