New for Storage Drivers

To extend the usefulness of the Storport interface, Microsoft has defined the Virtual Miniport (VMiniport) driver interface. This interface is designed for miniport drivers that currently have no strict association with the physical hardware. For example, writers of virtual miniport drivers might want to redirect storage traffic over physical transports that are not typically used for storage, or emulate new device types by using devices that are already known to the operating system. For more information, see Storage Virtual Miniport Drivers.

At the release of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 (SP1), the iSCSI Discovery Library moved from the WDK documentation to the Windows SDK documentation.
