Introduction to IPv6 Firewall-Hook Drivers

IPv6 firewall-hook drivers are used to intercept transmitted and received IPv6 packets in order to block undesired IPv6 network traffic. Each IPv6 packet is passed to an IPv6 firewall-hook driver's FirewallHookfunction which determines whether the packet should be accepted or dropped.

IPv6 firewall-hook drivers are supported only on Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows 2003 Server with Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Note   Starting with Windows Vista, do not implement filter-hook or firewall-hook drivers. Use Windows Filtering Platform Callout Drivers instead.
