ContainerCmdletProvider.RemoveItem Method (String, Boolean)

Updated: April 27, 2016

Applies To: Windows PowerShell

Removes (deletes) the item at the specified path.

Namespace:   System.Management.Automation.Provider
Assembly:  System.Management.Automation (in System.Management.Automation.dll)

protected virtual void RemoveItem(
	string path,
	bool recurse
)

Parameters

path
Type: System.String

The path to the item to be removed.

recurse
Type: System.Boolean

true if all children of the item should be removed, false if only a single level of children should be removed.

This parameter should be true only for a NavigationCmdletProvider derived class.

This method must call the WriteItemObject method for its output.

This method defines provider-specific functionality for the Remove-Item cmdlet. If this implementation of the cmdlet requires additional parameters, the provider must also implement the RemoveItemDynamicParameters method.

For more information about implementing providers (including samples), see Writing a Windows PowerShell Provider.
