Updated: April 27, 2016

Applies To: Windows PowerShell

Writes a general user-level message to the host application.

Namespace:   System.Management.Automation.Provider
Assembly:  System.Management.Automation (in System.Management.Automation.dll)

public void WriteVerbose(
	string text
)

Parameters

text
Type: System.String

The message to be sent to the host.

Exception Condition
PipelineStoppedException

The pipeline is stopped. The pipeline was terminated either before the call was made or while the call was in progress. In general, the provider should allow the caller to catch this exception.

This method is used to send general user-level information that is not related to specific error conditions. For example, this could be general information that tells the user what the provider is doing. In addition, this method can be used to send information that must be localized.

For more information about providers, see Windows PowerShell Providers [ps].
