The Internet and intranet messaging support introduced in MSMQ 3.0 allows applications to reference queues using URLs and to send HTTP messages:

  • Open queues using URLs.

  • Send HTTP messages that contain a SOAP envelope and SOAP attachments.

  • Authenticate messages sent over HTTPS.

The following features have been introduced to enhance the security of MSMQ 3.0 computers running on the Internet:

  • Hardened MSMQ mode.

  • Message redirection mappings between external and internal queue names.
