Utils.FindMVEntries Method

The FindMVEntries (String, String, Int32, String) method is a static method that retrieves the metaverse entries with the specified string attribute value and maximum number of results. The results are returned in the specified collation order.

Syntax

  String attributeName,
  String value,
  Int32 maxResults,
  String collationOrder

Parameters

  • attributeName
    Contains the name of the metaverse attribute to retrieve.

  • value
    Contains a string that the attribute identified by attributeName must contain.

  • maxResults
    Contains the maximum number of metaverse entries to retrieve.

  • collationOrder
    Contains a string that specifies the collation order. This string takes the form of the collation strings provided by the fn_helpcollations SQL function.

Return Value

Returns an array of MVEntry objects that represent the metaverse entries found in the search.

Exceptions

Exception type Condition
ArgumentNullException

The attributeName or value parameter is null.

ArgumentOutOfRangeException

The maxResults parameter is less than or equal to zero.

InvalidOperationException

The value represented by the value parameter cannot be converted to the data type of the attribute identified by attributeName.

Remarks

This method will throw an InvalidOperationException exception and the management agent run profile will stop with a status of stopped-extension-dll-exception if called from the following methods:
