IVdsDiskPartitionMF2 interface

[Beginning with Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, the Virtual Disk Service COM interface is superseded by the Windows Storage Management API.]

Provides a method to format a partition with additional formatting options.

When to implement

VDS implements this interface in the disk object.

When to use

Applications use the method of this interface to format OEM, ESP, or unknown partitions.

Note  Use this interface and the IVdsDiskPartitionMF interface for advanced operations on partitions only. Whenever possible, use an interface that operates on volumes instead, such as IVdsVolume or IVdsVolumeMF2.


The IVdsDiskPartitionMF2 interface inherits from the IUnknown interface. IVdsDiskPartitionMF2 also has these types of members:


The IVdsDiskPartitionMF2 interface has these methods.


Formats an existing OEM, ESP, or unknown partition. This method is identical to the IVdsDiskPartitionMF::FormatPartition method, except that formatting options are specified by using the Options parameter.
