DataGridView::OnMouseDown Method (MouseEventArgs^)

Raises the MouseDown event.

Namespace:   System.Windows.Forms
Assembly:  System.Windows.Forms (in System.Windows.Forms.dll)

protected:
virtual void OnMouseDown(
	MouseEventArgs^ e
) override

Parameters

e
Type: System.Windows.Forms::MouseEventArgs^

A MouseEventArgs that contains the event data.

Exception Condition
Exception

The control is configured to enter edit mode when it receives focus, but initialization of the editing cell value failed and either there is no handler for the DataError event or the handler has set the DataGridViewDataErrorEventArgs::ThrowException property to true. The exception object can typically be cast to type FormatException.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see NIB: Raising an Event.

The OnMouseDown method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors:

When overriding OnMouseDown in a derived class, be sure to call the base class's OnMouseDown method so that registered delegates receive the event.
