DataGrid.OnColumnDisplayIndexChanged Method

Raises the ColumnDisplayIndexChanged event.

Namespace:  System.Windows.Controls
Assembly:  PresentationFramework (in PresentationFramework.dll)

protected internal virtual void OnColumnDisplayIndexChanged(
	DataGridColumnEventArgs e
)

Parameters

e
Type: System.Windows.Controls.DataGridColumnEventArgs

The data for the event.

DataGrid requires that the DisplayIndex property of all columns must be unique integers from 0 to Columns Count -1. Therefore, when the DisplayIndex of one column changes, the change will typically cause the DisplayIndex of other columns to change too.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see Raising an Event.

The OnColumnDisplayIndexChanged method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors

When overriding OnColumnDisplayIndexChanged in a derived class, be sure to call the base class’s OnColumnDisplayIndexChanged method so that registered delegates receive the event.
