DataSourceIDConverter::IsValidDataSource Method (IComponent^)

Gets a value that indicates whether the specified component is a valid data source.

Namespace:   System.Web.UI.Design.WebControls
Assembly:  System.Design (in System.Design.dll)

protected:
virtual bool IsValidDataSource(
	IComponent^ component
)

Parameters

component
Type: System.ComponentModel::IComponent^

An object that implements the IComponent interface.

Return Value

Type: System::Boolean

true if component is a valid data source; otherwise, false.

The IsValidDataSource method considers the component parameter to be a valid data source if it implements the IDataSource interface.

Notes to Inheritors:

The IsValidDataSource method should be overridden by controls that need to further investigate a given component to decide whether it should be returned in the list of standard values. For example, if a control works with only XmlDataSource data sources, IsValidDataSource should return true only for those components that are XmlDataSource objects.
