IDefaultCommunicationTimeouts.SendTimeout Property

[ This article is for Windows Phone 8 developers. If you’re developing for Windows 10, see the latest documentation. ]

Gets the interval of time after which the send method, invoked by a communication object, times out.

Namespace:  System.ServiceModel
Assembly:  System.ServiceModel (in System.ServiceModel.dll)

TimeSpan SendTimeout { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.TimeSpan
The TimeSpan that specifies the interval of time to wait for the send method to time out.

All operations that are potentially lengthy must have a time-out. Methods that do not take explicit time-outs must delegate to those that do with default time-outs or must not do any work that blocks. Time-outs are the total limit for high-level operations for which they are to complete, so any retries must be limited to the time not already accessed by earlier tries.
