OdbcDataReader::GetDecimal Method (Int32)

Gets the value of the specified column as a Decimal object.

Namespace:   System.Data.Odbc
Assembly:  System.Data (in System.Data.dll)

public:
virtual Decimal GetDecimal(
	int i
) override

Parameters

i
Type: System::Int32

The zero-based column ordinal.

Return Value

Type: System::Decimal

The value of the specified column as a Decimal object.

Exception Condition
InvalidCastException

The specified cast is not valid.

Conversions are performed based on the underlying capabilities of the ODBC driver. If the conversion is not supported then the method call will fail.

Call IsDBNull to look for null values before calling this method.

GetDecimal has a maximum precision of 28. Attempting to retrieve decimal data with a larger precision will cause an exception. One solution would be to change the query to cast the decimal type to either a smaller datatype or convert to string or binary.
