Insert an item into the active document (Windows Store apps)

Use the following procedures to insert an item such as an audio clip, video clip, or an image file.

For information about adding a control from the Tools panel or a styled control from the Assets panel or Resources panel, see Add or modify an object (Blend for Visual Studio).

To insert an item into the active document

  • Do one of the following:

    • In the Projects panel, right-click the item, and then click Insert. Typically, the item is inserted into the top-left corner of the document.

    • In the Projects panel, drag the item onto the artboard at the location where you want it to be displayed.

    • From File Explorer or the desktop, drag the item onto the artboard at the location where you want it to display. A copy of the item will be added in the Projects panel.

Note

To add an item as a child object within a layout panel, click the layout panel in the Objects and Timeline panel to make it the active object, and then insert the item.
