FileSystemSecurity::SetAuditRule Method (FileSystemAuditRule^)

 

Sets the specified audit rule for the current file or directory.

Parameters

rule
Type: System.Security.AccessControl::FileSystemAuditRule^

A FileSystemAuditRule object that represents an audit rule to set for a file or directory.

Exception Condition
ArgumentNullException

The rule parameter is null.

The SetAuditRule method adds the specified audit rule or overwrites any identical audit rules that match the FileSystemRights value of the rule parameter. For example, if the rule parameter specifies a Read value and the SetAuditRule method finds an identical audit rule that specifies the Read value, the identical rule will be overwritten. If the SetAuditRule method finds an identical audit rule that specifies the Write value, the identical rule will not be overwritten.
