How to: Locate the Visual Studio Product Key
You may want to locate the product key for Visual Studio when you are working with customer support, upgrading from a trial version, or updating your own records.
Note
To find the product key for Team Foundation Server, follow the steps in Locate or Change the Product Key for Team Foundation Server.
To find the product key for Visual Studio Professional, Premium, Ultimate, or Test Professional
Look for the product key in one of these locations:
On the sleeve of the DVD.
On the Microsoft Subscriber Downloads website.
In the file setup.sdb, under [Product Key], located on the setup DVD or .ISO.
In ..\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 edition\setup.sdb, in the [Product Key] section.
