A sample of what a standard checkbox control looks like

Control description

A checkbox toggles an option on or off, or selects or deselects an item. A checkbox lets users make a decision between two clearly opposite choices. The checkbox label indicates the selected state, whereas the meaning of the cleared state must be the unambiguous opposite of the selected state.

Usage guidance

Use checkboxes to present users with a binary choice, one or more options that are not mutually exclusive, or a mixed choice.
