IsProperSubsetOf Method

SortedSet(Of T).IsProperSubsetOf Method

[ This article is for Windows Phone 8 developers. If you’re developing for Windows 10, see the latest documentation. ]

Determines whether a SortedSet(Of T) object is a proper subset of the specified collection.

Namespace:  System.Collections.Generic
Assembly:  System (in System.dll)

'Declaration
Public Function IsProperSubsetOf ( _
	other As IEnumerable(Of T) _
) As Boolean

Parameters

other
Type: System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable(Of T)
The collection to compare to the current SortedSet(Of T) object.

Return Value

Type: System.Boolean
true if the SortedSet(Of T) object is a proper subset of other; otherwise, false.

Implements

ISet(Of T).IsProperSubsetOf(IEnumerable(Of T))

ExceptionCondition
ArgumentNullException

other is Nothing.

An empty set is a proper subset of any other collection. Therefore, this method returns true if the collection represented by the current SortedSet(Of T) object is empty unless the other parameter is also an empty set.

This method always returns false if Count is greater than or equal to the number of elements in other.

If the collection represented by other is a SortedSet(Of T) collection with the same equality comparer as the current SortedSet(Of T) object, then this method is an O(n) operation. Otherwise, this method is an O(n + m) operation, where n is Count and m is the number of elements in other.
