Convert::ToByte Method (Boolean)

 

Converts the specified Boolean value to the equivalent 8-bit unsigned integer.

Namespace:   System
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

public:
static unsigned char ToByte(
	bool value
)

Parameters

value
Type: System::Boolean

The Boolean value to convert.

Return Value

Type: System::Byte

The number 1 if value is true; otherwise, 0.

The following example illustrates the conversion of Boolean to Byte values.

   bool falseFlag = false;
   bool trueFlag = true;

   Console::WriteLine("{0} converts to {1}.", falseFlag,
                      Convert::ToByte(falseFlag));
   Console::WriteLine("{0} converts to {1}.", trueFlag, 
                      Convert::ToByte(trueFlag));
}
// The example displays the following output:
//       False converts to 0.
//       True converts to 1.
