View, HTML Designer, Options Dialog Box

The Options dialog box lets you change default display settings in the HTML designer that affect the appearance of the user interface (UI) for a page in Design view.

To access this dialog box

  1. In Visual Web Developer, click Tools, and then click Options.

  2. In the left panel, expand HTML Designer, and then click View.

    Note

    If your environment settings are configured for Web development, by default the elements of this node are not available. To display them, select the Show all settings check box. For more information about environment settings, see How to: Change Select Settings.

    You can find additional options that affect Design view under the HTML Designer node, which is visible if the Show all settings check box is selected.

  • Item Foreground
    Sets the default foreground color for the currently selected UI element in Display Items. Select a standard system color from the list, or click Custom to select a custom color.

  • Item Background
    Sets the default background color for the currently selected UI element in Display Items. Select a standard system color from the list, or click Custom to select a custom color.

    Note

    If the currently selected UI element in Display Items does not support a background color, the Item Background list is unavailable.

  • Display Items
    Displays a list of UI elements in Design view.

    The Display Items list contains the following UI elements:

    • DWT editable region
      Sets default colors for the editable area of Dynamic Web Templates.

    • DWT parent region
      Sets default colors for the parent area of Dynamic Web Templates.

    • DWT design outline
      Sets default colors for the design outline of Dynamic Web Templates.

    • Master Page content region
      Sets default colors for the content region of master pages.

    • Master Page parent region
      Sets default colors for the parent region of master pages.

    • Master Page design outline
      Sets default colors for the design outline of master pages.

    • Layout border

      1. Sets default colors for the border of layouts.
    • Layout label
      Sets default colors for the label on layouts.

    • Layout border handle
      Sets default colors for the border handle on layouts.

    • Layout table border
      Sets default colors for the table border on layouts.

    • Layout table spacer cell
      Sets default colors for the table spacer cell on layouts.

    • Layout margin watermark
      Sets default colors for the margin watermark on layouts.

    • Layout padding watermark
      Sets default colors for the padding watermark on layouts.

    • Layout positioning lines
      Sets default colors for the positioning lines in layouts.

    • Layout site selection border
      Sets default colors for the site selection border in layouts.

    • Layout UI activated border
      Sets default colors for the UI activated border in layouts.

    • Visible borders
      Sets default colors for the visible borders in Design view.

    • Layout resize watermark
      Sets default colors for the resize watermark in layouts.

    • Style application overlay
      Sets default colors for the style application overlay.
