CngKeyUsages Enumeration

Specifies the cryptographic operations that a Cryptography Next Generation (CNG) key may be used with.

This enumeration has a FlagsAttribute attribute that allows a bitwise combination of its member values.

Member nameDescription
NoneNo usage values are assigned to the key.
DecryptionThe key can be used for encryption and decryption.
SigningThe key can be used for signing and verification.
KeyAgreementThe key can be used for secret agreement generation and key exchange.
AllUsagesThe key can be used for all purposes.

Not all operations apply to each key. For example, an Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) key cannot be used for decryption even if the Decryption usage is set.
