Converts the given object to another type.

Namespace:   System.ComponentModel
Assembly:  System (in System.dll)

public:
virtual Object^ ConvertTo(
	ITypeDescriptorContext^ context,
	CultureInfo^ culture,
	Object^ value,
	Type^ destinationType
) override

Parameters

context
Type: System.ComponentModel::ITypeDescriptorContext^

A formatter context.

culture
Type: System.Globalization::CultureInfo^

The culture into which value will be converted.

value
Type: System::Object^

The object to convert.

destinationType
Type: System::Type^

The type to convert the object to.

Return Value

Type: System::Object^

The converted object.

Exception Condition
ArgumentNullException

destinationType is null.

NotSupportedException

The conversion cannot be performed.

The most common types to convert are to and from a string object. The default implementation will make a call to ToString on the object if the object is valid and if the destination type is string.

The context parameter can be used to extract additional information about the environment this converter is being invoked from. This can be null, so always check. Also, properties on the context object can return null.
