SqlParameterCollection.Add Method (String, SqlDbType)

Adds a SqlParameter to the SqlParameterCollection given the parameter name and the data type.

Namespace:  System.Data.SqlClient
Assembly:  System.Data (in System.Data.dll)

public SqlParameter Add(
	string parameterName,
	SqlDbType sqlDbType


Type: System.String

The name of the parameter.

Type: System.Data.SqlDbType

One of the SqlDbType values.

Return Value

Type: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlParameter
A new SqlParameter object.

public void AddSqlParameter(SqlCommand command) 
    SqlParameter param = command.Parameters.Add(
        "@Description", SqlDbType.NVarChar);
    param.Size = 16;
    param.Value = "Beverages";
