HttpClientExtensions.PostAsync<T> Method (HttpClient, Uri, T, MediaTypeFormatter, String, CancellationToken)

Sends a POST request as an asynchronous operation to the specified URI with value serialized using the given formatter.

Type Parameters

T

The type of value.

Parameters

client
Type: HttpClient
The client used to make the request.
requestUri
Type: System.Uri
The URI the request is sent to.
value
Type: T
The value that will be placed in the request's entity body.
formatter
Type: System.Net.Http.Formatting.MediaTypeFormatter
The formatter used to serialize the value.
mediaType
Type: System.String
The authoritative value of the request's content's Content-Type header. Can be null in which case the formatter's default content type will be used.
cancellationToken
Type: System.Threading.CancellationToken
A cancellation token that can be used by other objects or threads to receive notice of cancellation.

Return Value

Type: System.Threading.Tasks.Task<HttpResponseMessage>
A task object representing the asynchronous operation.

Usage Note

In Visual Basic and C#, you can call this method as an instance method on any object of type HttpClient. When you use instance method syntax to call this method, omit the first parameter.
