If you no longer require a specific test plan, or you mistakenly created a test plan, you can delete it.

Delete a Test Plan

If you do not want to delete a test plan and its associated test suites and test results, you can change the state of the test plan to inactive. For more information, see How to: Change the State of a Test Plan.

To delete a test plan

  1. Open Microsoft Test Manager.


    To display the Microsoft Test Manager window, click Start, and then click All Programs. Point to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and then click Microsoft Test Manager 2010.

  2. To delete a test plan, click the home icon in the center group menu bar.

    The list of test plans is displayed. You can delete a test plan from this pane.


    You can also delete test plans using the Test Plan Manager in Organize in the Testing Center.

  3. To delete a test plan, click the test plan and then click the delete icon.

    A dialog box to confirm deletion is displayed.

  4. To confirm deletion of the test plan, click Delete test plan.

    Important noteImportant

    If you delete a test plan, every test suite in the test plan and the test results will also be deleted.
