Troubleshooting Exceptions: System.IdentityModel.Selectors.StsCommunicationException

An StsCommunicationException exception is thrown when there is a problem communicating with the security token service.

The problem can be caused by the following conditions:

  • Network failure

  • Failure to reach the MEX endpoint

  • Security token service does not have a valid endpoint identity
