How to: Get Involved in the Developer Community

You can participate in the online developer community in several ways, from Visual Studio. For example, you can post a question to a forum or access Web sites that have developer information.

Note

Some developer community features require a Passport account.

Post to Community Forums

You can browse the forums found on MSDN Forums. You can also search for specific information in the forums, from Visual Studio.

To post a question to the community from Visual Studio

  1. On the Help menu, click MSDN Forums.

  2. In Enter Keywords, type the subject of your search and then click Go.

    Any forum threads that match your search are displayed.

  3. Click a result to view it, or search again.

View Developer Web Sites

You can access both Microsoft and select third-party Web sites from Visual Studio.

To access Microsoft Developer Center Web sites from Visual Studio

  • On the Community menu, click Developer Center.

    Note

    Your active settings file determines which product Developer Center you are directed to. For example, if you are using Visual Basic settings, the Visual Basic Developer Center appears.
