Assignment Operator (=) (JavaScript)

Assigns a value to a variable.

result = expression

Any variable.

Any numeric expression.

The = operator behaves like other operators, so expressions that contain it have a value. This means that you can chain assignment operators as follows: j = k = l = 0. In this case j, k, and l equal zero.

Supported in the following document modes: Quirks, Internet Explorer 6 standards, Internet Explorer 7 standards, Internet Explorer 8 standards, Internet Explorer 9 standards, Internet Explorer 10 standards, Internet Explorer 11 standards.
